DOZENS OF PIECES OF MODERN ART ARE SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE HOTEL: PAINTINGS, SCULPTURES, PHOTOGRAPHS, ETCHINGS…

In addition to a regular programme of changing exhibitions, the hotel’s unique art collection includes paintings, drawings and prints by artists of national and international reputation who have either lived, worked or exhibited in the North East. Included are evocative paintings by the region’s acclaimed miner-turned-artist Norman Cornish MBE,  intimate photographs of the legendary Muhammed Ali by acclaimed photojournalist, Bill Peronneau, as well as paintings and prints by Norway’s most distinguished artists, the celebrated figurative painter Frans Widerberg (considered Edvard Munch’s successor) and Ornulf Opdahl, renowned for his evocative, atmospheric landscapes paintings.

Paintings by Virginia Bodman, Sean Scully, Julian Vilarrubi and Peter Wolland, on loan from public and private collections, are also on display in the public areas of Jesmond Dene House.

For further information, plus availability and prices of any artist’s work, please contact Mara-Helen Wood at info@mhwpublications.co.uk / www.mhwpublications.co.uk
