PETER QUINN RWS: WATERCOLOURS
The Billiard Room at Jesmond Dene House
3rd August - 13th October 2017
We are delighted to showcase a new exhibition from Peter Quinn. Born in Dumfries in the South West of Scotland, and graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1986, Peter now lives in Newcastle-upon-Tyne where he divides his time between painting and teaching Art History.
An artist who seeks subject matter both in the everyday of his own locality, and in more far-flung locations, Peter is well known for brightly coloured watercolours of interesting buildings, boats and street scenes. His exhibitions can regularly be seen in the North of England, Scotland and Malta but this is the first time his work has been on display at Jesmond Dene House. Peter received a PhD from the University of Sunderland for his thesis 'Picturing Locality: Art and Regional Identity in the North-East of England, 1822-1900'. Peter also chairs the Bewick Society.
The exhibition offers the opportunity to visit the hotel and see some gorgeous art at the same time.
